Non è facile far capire davvero in Occidente che cosa stia succedendo in Iran e che cosa possa provare una donna, una ragazza che viene arrestata soltanto perché non ha coperto i capelli col velo, che viene obbligata a firmare false confessioni di immoralità e poi frustata fino a che il dolore non prende il sopravvento e non ne abbatte le residue speranze. O magari uccisa in una delle prigioni-lager dove il silenzio della notte è rotto soltanto dalle grida e dal pianto. “Leggere Lolita in Teheran” ha il merito di squarciare il velo dell’indifferenza e del silenzio che troppo spesso accompagna le storie di queste donne, destinate il più delle volte a un triste conteggio in cronaca, e soprattutto di rendere onore al loro coraggio.
Niente è cambiato dalla rivoluzione di Khomeini
Presentato in anteprima alla Festa del Cinema di Roma, il film che sarà nei cinema dal 21 novembre e che è diretto dal regista israeliano Eran Riklis è tratto dall’omonimo bestseller di Azar Nafisi e porta la lancetta del tempo a 45 anni fa, quando la rivoluzione di Khomeini sconvolse il Paese e accese molte speranze tra i giovani. Speranze, però, che furono presto tradite dall’oscurantismo del regime degli ayatollah. E ciò che più colpisce in questo struggente racconto di quegli anni infuocati a Teheran è che niente è cambiato. A Khomeini si è sostituito Khamenei ma la libertà di pensiero e quella personale delle donne, alle quali viene impedito perfino di bere un caffè con un uomo che non sia un parente stretto o il marito, è che niente è cambiato. Tanto è vero che il film, come si legge nei titoli di coda, è dedicato a Mahsa Amini e al movimento Donne Vita Libertà.
La professoressa che insegna letteratura clandestinamente
Tra coloro che si illusero c’è anche la protagonista, la professoressa Nafisi qui interpretata dalla bravissima Golshifteh Farahani, un’attrice che proprio come la scrittrice è stata costretta ad andare via dal suo Paese e vive sotto scorta a Parigi, per il solo fatto di appoggiare il movimento delle donne contro il regime. Nel film interpreta una professoressa che con il marito ingegnare torna in Iran per insegnare letteratura inglese nell’università di Teheran. Peccato che i suoi amati libri, “Il grande Gatsby" e "Lolita", "Orgoglio e pregiudizio" ed Henry James, nell’Iran oscurantista siano considerati blasfemi e pericolosi. E lei stessa si ritrova messa sotto accusa da alcuni studenti le cui menti sono già state conquistate dal virus dell’intolleranza. Così decide di lasciare l’università ma non l’insegnamento che continua clandestinamente nella sua casa dove ospita una volta alla settimana sette di quelle studentesse che come lei amano la letteratura e che come lei sono convinte che attraverso la cultura ci si possa opporre al buio del regime. E sono questi pomeriggi, riscaldati dalla luce del sole, dal te alla menta e dalle letture proibite, la parte più dolce e struggente di un film così necessario che è allo stesso tempo un atto d’amore verso la forza delle donne e quella della cultura. A un certo punto però la stessa professoressa Nafisi deciderà di espatriare negli Stati Uniti per cercare di offrire ai suoi due bambini un’educazione e una formazione lontane dalla repressione culturale e fisica. Sarà proprio negli Usa che scriverà il suo romanzo, destinato a diventare un best seller in tutto il mondo.
Le parole della scrittrice bestseller Azar Nafisi
Resta la speranza, come ben ha raccontato la stessa Azar Nafisi, intervenuta alla conferenza stampa a Roma: "I cambiamenti sono costanti, ma siamo ancora in un regime iraniano che uccide le donne, le rende cieche, le fa sparire. Il regime fa credere che il mondo si è dimenticato di noi ma nel mio paese si continua a protestare: alla violenza e al rumore dei proiettili si risponde ballando in piazza senza velo, donne e giovani uomini che rischiano. Questo film è un omaggio al coraggio delle nonne, delle madri e oggi delle giovani che dall'inizio della rivoluzione non si sono fatte intimorire dal regime e io sono convinta che arriverà la vittoria e passerà dalle donne".
Golshifteh Farahani vive sotto scorta a Parigi
In quanto a Golshifteh Farahani, che nei titoli di coda vediamo cantare “Baraye”, l'inno delle rivolte, con i Coldplay in un concerto a Buenos Aires nel 2022, la sua testimonianza è preziosa: “"Non esiste separazione tra noi donne della diaspora e le donne che sono rimaste in Iran. Siamo un'unica nazione con lo stesso cuore e combattiamo per la libertà e l'uguaglianza. Loro che sono dentro rischiano di più ma stiamo camminando insieme, siamo le ali dello stesso aereo. Andare in esilio per tutti noi crea un dolore indescrivibile ma siamo la voce del nostro paese, quella che il regime vuole silenziare".
