Se per alcuni i social media sono la piattaforma ideale per esprimere odio, per altri sono un’occasione di rivincita e liberazione morale. Chiara Meloni, grafica di 39 anni, e Mara Mibelli, impiegata di 32, entrambe di Olbia, hanno sposato la seconda possibilità e scelto di usare i social network come strumento per veicolare «Belle di faccia», un movimento per la «fat liberation» e per la «body positivity».
La riscossa delle taglie XXL
Basta vergognarsi dei rotolini su pancia e fianchi e basta sentirsi inferiori o mortificarsi per i chili di troppo, è da Instagram che parte la riscossa delle taglie XXL conquistando sempre più follower. Chiara e Mara ci hanno messo la faccia postando selfie in costume da bagno e lanciando la loro campagna «per sensibilizzare alla grasso-fobia». «Di questo in Italia si parla ancora poco - affermano le due influencer - noi siamo tra le prime a farlo sui social».
Dignità per tutti i corpi
Attraverso foto in piscina ma anche illustrazioni (di Mara) diffondono messaggi di «un vero e proprio movimento politico e sociale che restituisca dignità a tutti i corpi». I primi post sul profilo Instagram, «di natura divulgativa», sono comparsi nel dicembre del 2018. «Non pensavamo di suscitare tanto interesse, in pochissimo tempo abbiamo raggiunto i 19mila follower». A quel punto hanno fondato l'associazione “Belle di faccia” e pubblicato un libro da colorare, «una rivincita per noi che non abbiamo mai visto il nostro corpo rappresentato».
Boby-positivity
Un’occasione per intraprendere dibattiti anche con nutrizionisti e psicologi. Ma sui social, si sa, il rischio hater è dietro l’angolo e infatti puntuali sono arrivati gli insulti violenti. «C'è chi ci augura la morte. Ci scrivono: morirete di tumore e diabete per il grasso addominale. Chi ci attacca sulla questione salute non è interessato evidentemente a quella mentale. Non capiscono che la salute non è argomento di discussione della boby-positivity. Se il mio grasso pesa sulle mie giunture non ha a che fare con il rispetto delle persone. Il nostro messaggio è: combattere lo stigma dell'obesità e dire stop all'odio nei confronti dei corpi grassi. Non è possibile essere respinto a un colloquio di lavoro per via dei chili in più o essere discriminato per la taglia. In questa società la grassezza è sinonimo di inferiorità morale razziale e intellettiva. Vogliamo zittire il senso di inadeguatezza che ci è stato inculcato, liberare tutti i corpi dagli standard di bellezza».
Senza più vergogna
L’odio diffuso nei confronti di chi è obeso provoca «all'isolamento sociale, aumenta i livelli di stress e dunque danneggia la salute. C'è chi non esce di casa per la vergogna, non va in palestra per paura di essere preso in giro. Normalizzare i corpi va a favore della salute di tutti». Per questo serve l’opera di Mara e Chiara: «Dopo anni di vergogna, di tentativi di camuffare la pancia, i rotoli, la cellulite mostrarsi senza vergogna è catartico. Rivendichiamo uno spazio nel mondo, smettendo di scusarci, giustificarci e di mortificarci».
